First day to college – Registration and the first week

It was Monday – Sept 8th, 2014 and the Non-EU students had to do registration after confirmation of the complete Tuition fee paid or the scholarship letter review. After confirmation at the first floor of ‘Aras Ui Chathail’ Building, we could do registration on the First floor of the building.

Once the registration was done, we received the Student ID card, which is used for most of the access like library, Labs / Tutorial, Student Union and so on.

The programme MSc in Management Information systems had classes on Tuesdays and Thursday and no labs / tutorials in the beginning weeks. Tue Sept 9th, 2014 at Lecture hall1 – J. E. Cairnes Building – There was an introduction class by the course coordinator – Chris Barry on MSc in Information Systems Management programme which was actually Anatoli’s Business data Communication class, followed by Interactive systems design class by Mairéad Hogan  and Web Design & Development class by Murray Scott.

I was told that the old building (St.Antony part) of J.E. Cairnes building was once used for religious studies with lot of monks studying in there.

On Wednesday Sept 10th 2014, opened the bank account in AIB – University Branch and attended the Societies Day in Bailey Allen hall, Student Center (Aras na Mac Leinn).

On Thursday, had first classes of Business Application Programming by Niel Keane, Database systems by Micheal Lang and Systems Development & Project Management by Chris Barry. All the lecturers, for the 6 modules, are exceptionally outstanding with ample years of experience.

The First weekend in Ireland started with Zombie walk from Spanish Arch to Eyre square in Galway City Center.
